Purpose:
Defense Support Services (DS2), a Lockheed Martin/Day & Zimmermann company, seeks several aircraft mechanics for our program at Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah, GA.

This is a permanent position that will pay $23.39/hr. Candidates will perform all routine maintenance on the CH-47 aircraft.

Candidates must have a minimum of three years experience working as an Aircraft Mechanic on CH-47 aircraft. Military training on Rotary wing aircraft desired. Candidates must provide all tools that are needed for their job.

This is a permanent position with full benefits, pension plan, and paid time off. Per diem for the first 30 days is included as well as mileage of $.485/mile for relocation. Time and a half is paid for all hours worked over 40.

I have over 6 years experience in aircraft maintenance in the Alabama National Guard on a Boeing CH-47 Chinook Helicopter. I am currently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) on my first tour of duty. I assisted Lycoming T55-L-712, T55-L-714 Turbine Engines, and T62-T-2B Auxiliary Power Plant, to include remove and inspect, troubleshoot, adjust N1 and N2 control rod ends, Bleed ban actuator, minimum beep, droop eliminator, fire sensing element. Assisted in management of a team of individuals in performing scheduled and unscheduled for the aircraft and ground support equipment. Overhauled rotor heads and swashplates. Assisted in supervising the completion of Helicopter Phase maintenance inspections. Maintained and troubleshot various systems and sub-systems.

Located, identified, removed and replaced or repaired faulty parts and components in airframes, and landing gear systems, utility and hydraulic systems, fuel, electrical, power plant, rotor and power train systems, and assisted in performing operational checks and inspections.

Assisted with aircraft build-up in Bagram, Afghanistan in Nov. 2009.

Performed technical inspections on 7 CH-47D Chinook helicopters to ensure compliance with manufacturer and technical publications, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures. Maintained aircraft historical and maintenance records for all aircraft. Inspected powertrain and powerplant, structural components, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, and auxiliary power unit. Conducted many Army corrosion control inspections.

Exercised shop and flight line safety. Tracked aircraft downtime, planned maintenance accordingly, coordinated the various shops (sheet metal, hydraulics, engine and avionics) into one working body in order to keep the highest state of readiness. Pursuing Federal Aviation Administration Certification for Airframe and Powerplant (A & P License). Consistently recognized for superior job performance with earnest desire for continual self-improvement. Able to adapt to a wide range of changing circumstances, thrives in a high pressure, high demand environment and will deliver.
