Responsibilities
Prepares cold plates, snack boxes, dressings, sauces and garnishes according to menus and preparation specifications. Slices vegetables and produce both manually and with specified equipment. Wraps and packs entrees following menus and portion specifications. Moves packed food carts to final holding (staging) area. Packs and organizes tray set-ups into carts according to customer specification. Responsible for updated flight and menu changes. Dates and rotates product. Cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment. Packs special meals. Retrieves equipment and supplies from other areas and other equipment to perform job. Operates Bettcher/Holbart meat slicer, Manhart vegetable slicer. Prepares serving utensils into containers. Operates silverware bagging machine and prepares first/business class silverware roll-ups. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic math skills and knowledge of weights and measures. Ability to use standard kitchen equipment. Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent preferred. Understanding of type of equipment and quantities for flights according to diagram specifications. Ability to read, speak and write English. Must be able to push and pull racks of cold plates. Must be able to lift and carry products for the kitchen. Continuous standing and walking. Frequent repetitive motion, reaching and handling. Attention to detail while slicing vegetables and products; to ensure accuracy of menu, flight and passenger counts. Handles raw and cooked food items. Works under time constraints by meeting and responding correctly to increased counts in meal production. Read specification books and production sheets. Must be willing to work any shift in a 24/7 week, including weekends, nights and holidays. Ability to work in a cool area at 42 degrees and enter refrigerated area at 35 degrees to store entrees as needed. Training will be provided on the job. Candidate must be able to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to obtain and retain credentials necessary for the position. Position-specific clearances include but are not limited to, FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U. S. Customs and U. S. Postal Service clearances. Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
