Responsibilities
As the Director of Systems, the scope of the duties will apply to servers, server operating systems, server based infrastructure services, and storage. Please see below: Manage a team of Senior Systems Engineers. Evaluate and make hiring recommendations for systems Project Engineers. Work with the Managing Director of IT Engineering on setting Continental's strategic direction. Set architectural standards and produce design guidelines for Project Engineers. Set hardware standards. Review infrastructure projects for compliance with architectural, hardware, and design guidance standards. Continue and enhance Continental's deep relationships with HP and Microsoft. Actively participate on customer advisory boards, joint development programs, and relationship review activities. Lead R&D efforts in new technologies in the system space and storage space. Act as level III support for production systems. Defend the introduction of new technologies into the infrastructure, including cost benefit analysis. Set lifecycle policies. Work with the Director of Information Security on setting and configuring security standards and defining the security architecture. Work with the Director of Information Security and the Director of the Project Office on disaster recovery and high availability standards. Work with multiple Directors in the Software Development. team, evangelizing infrastructure standards, defining service standards, and keeping current on software development technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in an Information Technology field strongly preferred. Minimum of 10 years experience in general Systems Engineering Strong, technical depth of understanding in the following areas: (A test may be given) Microsoft infrastructure services (PKI, DHCP, DNS, authentication, directory services, LDAP, Group Policy) Microsoft Virtual Machine Manager and Hyper-V R2 c. Storage sub-system technologies (SAN, HBA, controllers, iSCSI, FCOE) Microsoft Exchange/Office Communications Server HP blade center technologies Good technical depth of understanding in Linux/UNIX operating systems and how to integrate them into a Microsoft based infrastructure. Thorough understanding of systems security, perimeter security, NAP, RADIUS, IPSec, and 802.1x. Thorough understanding of PKI infrastructure and security protocols dependent upon certificate services. Minimum of 3 years experience managing direct report personnel. Minimum of 3 years experience setting architectural standards, producing design guidelines, defining hardware builds, and writing life cycle documents. Strong writing skills and understanding of the importance of engineering documentation. Ability to work in a highly collaborative culture and evangelize infrastructure standards with a large peer group. Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
