Responsibilities

Lead and manage the tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740 (FAS 109) reporting, including certain financial reporting responsibilities for monthly tax accruals and annual and quarterly tax provision calculations. Prepare tax basis calculations, including those in support of tax basis balance sheets. Maintain accurate tax accounting and tax basis roll-forwards. Prepare tax footnote disclosures. Identify issues related to FAS 109, FIN 48 and SOX compliance. Manage Sarbanes-Oxley controls as they pertain tax reporting. Review federal and state income tax returns. Special projects which may include: Management of federal and state income tax audits. Income tax forecasting and modeling. Research and write-up of income and non-income tax issues. Analysis of structured tax planning opportunities. Manage relationships with external auditors and outside tax consultants as well as government agencies relating to tax matters.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting with CPA license or Masters degree in Accounting or Taxation. Four to six years experience with preference given to Big Four and large

corporate tax experience. Strong tax accounting skills including:  A solid conceptual understanding of FAS 109 Working experience and knowledge of annual and quarterly income tax calculations and associated tax basis balance sheets Experience with valuation allowances, FAS123R and FAS158 in a FAS 109 context is helpful General understanding of FIN48 Working understanding of income tax compliance processes. Experience in a multi-state, multi-national environment. Working knowledge of financial accounting which will facilitate interfacing with financial accountants. Verbal and written communication skills which allow interaction and effective

communication with all levels of corporate and management staff. Efficient and organized. Hyperion experience a plus. Airline industry tax experience a plus. Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.   Please be advised: This job requires working in an area covered by the City of Houston Ordinance Against Smoking - City Code Chapter 21.
