Responsibilities

By submitting your information, you have not applied to a specific job.  If you are interested in any position or internship at Continental Airlines, you must apply directly to the position via continental.jobs        One or more of the following responsibilities will be assigned:  Assist with the implementation and testing of a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution, endpoint and email encryption solutions. Perform preliminary analysis and conduct interviews with various business groups to communicate project objectives and to understand their data protection requirements. Assist with the evaluation of other data governance solutions. Conduct research on data governance best practice. Work collaboratively with Continental Airlines' technology teams, external vendors and consultants. Set realistic expectations for completion of projects and/or tasks. Be responsible for information security risk assessment, and monitoring, identifying and investigating various computer and network security related incidents, coordinating with other teams for response to incidents and providing solution during crisis situations. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with computer network security techniques and best practices. The technical focus will be on the monitoring, assessment and analysis of large, dispersed, and complex network and information systems, as well as risk assessment. This position will require the ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment where conditions change often and may require persistent monitoring on 24x7 basis. Daily activities can include the following: Security configuration compliance. Monitoring and analysis of network and IDS/IPS information. Security event/log monitoring, analysis, reporting, and alerting. Identifying and investigating suspicious/malicious activities related to the unauthorized/inappropriate use of information, information resources, and policy violations. Identifying and tracking of malicious code. Security policy enforcement. Performing risk assessment. Coordinating teams for response to security incidents. Documenting incident resolutions and communicating with all appropriate parties.

Qualifications

One or more of the following qualifications will be required:  Undergraduate or graduate studies in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security, Computer Engineering). or related field, such as other formal training in computer forensics and information security is required. Knowledge of Information Security concepts required. Knowledge of cryptography a plus. Previous project experience or project management knowledge a plus. Experience on system, network or application security is preferred. Understanding of network security. Familiarity with various Information Security frameworks and best practices. Understanding of Unix and Windows systems security is preferred. Exemplary written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management. Strong conceptual and analytical skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Self -starter, with a high degree of initiative and motivation. Must be a team player. Referral from a professor or by a member of faculty is mandatory.     Please be advised: This job requires working in an area covered by the City of Houston Ordinance Against Smoking - City Code Chapter 21.
