Aviation Safety Engineer

Major Duties and Responsibilities:



MTSI is seeking an Aviation Safety Engineer to support development of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) safety standards, hazard assessments, and safety case analyses.



Required Skills:



Knowledge of the application of Safety Risk Management (SRM) processes to identify hazards, assess risk, and implement controls to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
Ability to develop abstract or broadly applicable concepts on aircraft safety standards and concisely convey the application of these concepts for UAS operations to all levels of DoD and regulatory agencies.
Knowledge of aircraft safety requirements.
Knowledge of military safety certification processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Desired Skills:



Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) principles as they apply to Safety Management.
Proficiency in using MS Office products such as Word, Power Point, and Excel.


Educational Requirements:



Bachelor’s degree in a technical field



Clearance Requirements:



Ability to obtain Department of Defense security clearance
